Due to the increase in the seaborne trade volume, shipbuilders are constructing larger ships in search of greater efficiency. Also, environmental regulations have become stricter due to an increased awareness of safety and environmental issues concerning marine transport.

ABREXTM, NIPPON STEEL's abrasion resistant steel plate series, assures weldability, a wide lineup of specifications and sizes, the world's highest level of hardness and low temperature toughness (five times harder than mild steel). NIPPON STEEL can also provide full technological support.
ABREXTM is widely used for shovels, crushers, and dump trucks that operate in severe environments.
