Nippon Steel Corporation set up its engineering business division in 1974, which was spun off as Nippon Steel Engineering Corporation in July 2006. The company changed its name to "Nippon Steel Corporation and Sumikin Engineering Co., Ltd." in October 2012 and in April 2019 changed its name "NIPPON STEEL ENGINEERING CO., LTD."
