Nippon Steel Corporation (Nippon Steel) is proud to announce that our low
CO2 steel product “NSCarbolex™ Neutral” *1 will be used for
YANGLING METRON NEW MATERIALS INC *2(Metron)’s production of electroplated diamond wires.
Metron’s major customers are photovoltaic silicon wafer manufactures, who use diamond wires to slice
wafers from silicon ingots.

Metron is actively working on reducing not only Scope 1 (direct emissions from owned sources associated
with use of fuel) and Scope 2 (indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy) but Scope 3
(all indirect emissions not included in Scope 2 that occur in the value chain of the reporting company)
CO2 emission. Metron has found value in our NSCarbolex Neutral, as a solution to support their
challenge to reduce their Scope 3 emission.
Also, the product, Nippon Steel’s SPURKS™ which “NSCarbolex Neutral” is being
applied, is one of “NSCarbolex Solution” *3, and expected to contribute to less GHG emission
in the process of solar panel manufacturing.
