Nippon Steel Corporation
Nippon Steel Corporation (“Nippon Steel”) is promoting indication of the EcoLeaf label on the steel packaging using our EcoLeaf EPD certified steel products*1. The EcoLeaf EPD is an environmental label and declaration program that certifies the environmental impact of a product in the life cycle. We think the label is a sign of our "sustainable action for the planet".
The EcoLeaf labels are now printed on various steel packaging using our EcoLeaf certified steel products. In some cases, the EcoLeaf label is also indicated with a 2D barcode*2 so that you can visit our webpage showing the sustainability of steel packaging*3. We believe our customers appreciate the environmental advantages of our steel products and the steel steel packaging.
*1 In October 2020, Nippon Steel obtained the EcoLeaf environmental label for three of its packaging materials—electrolytic tinplate, tinfree steel, and polymer laminated tinfree steel.

Steel packaging steel can be recycled repeatedly without loss of quality, and has smaller carbon footprint compared to other materials in the aspect of LCA*4.
*4 Life Cycle Assessment is an assessment methodology for environmental impact of a product life cycle, from material production and use to recycling after use.
In addition to climate change, the world is now paying more attention to promoting resource recycling and reducing the environmental impact of materials such as metals and plastics, as well as the products made from these materials.
To make more environmentally friendly world, we think using more steel packaging for beverages and food in our life is an action to sustain the planet.
