Nippon Steel Corporation
Nippon Steel Corporation (Nippon Steel) has obtained the EcoLeaf environmental label (*) certifications from the Sustainable Management Promotion Organization (SuMPO) in the categories of Steel Bar, Wire, Steel Bar (building material), and Wire (building material) Products.
We are the first Japanese company to obtain EcoLeaf Certificates that cover all types of steel bars and wire products. The certifications cover all bar and wire products manufactured by Nippon Steel, including those for automotive, construction machinery, industrial machinery, energy, as well as building and civil engineering sectors. Nippon Steel , under the business brand SteeLinC®, offers a rich lineup of high-end steel products and processing improvements that are based on environmental data to help customers reduce their CO2 emissions and environmental impact.
EcoLeaf is an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD*) certification system that uses the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology to show quantitative environmental information covering the entire life cycle of a product, from resource extraction to manufacturing/assembly, distribution, use, discarding, and recycling. This allows our customers to objectively assess the environmental burden throughout the life cycles of the products they use. Since December 2019, when Nippon Steel first obtained the EcoLeaf environmental label for H-shapes, we have obtained a total of 21 EcoLeaf environmental certificates, including for other types of products.
Nippon Steel will continue to pursue the world's best technology and manufacturing capabilities while actively disclosing the environmental performance of steel products, which are highly recyclable, environmentally friendly, sustainable and in compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations.
