NSSMC’s Oita Works Achieved 300 million Tons in Cumulative Shipments

The Oita Works of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) has reached 300 million tons of shipment on an accumulated basis since its first shipment in October 1971, in 44 years and 8 months. Its cumulative shipments reached 100 million tons in April 1991, 200 million tons in February 2005, and, after approximately 11 years and 3 months since then, 300 million tons.

The Oita Works has the integrated processes from steelmaking and rolling to shipment, and a centralized production process control system. Both of these have contributed to achieve the total shipment of 300 million tons. The Oita Works will continue to make efforts to realize stable production of each manufacturing line and stable shipment to match fluctuation in demand, and its production division and sales division will strive to work in close coordination so as to respond to needs of customers.
