Resumption of Operation of Nagoya Works No. 1 Coke Oven

We once again express our deep regret for the great trouble and inconvenience caused to the local residents and those concerned by the Nagoya Works coke fire accident that occurred on September 3, 2014.

On October 8, 2015, Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (“NSSMC”) made an announcement about the completion of measures to prevent recurrence of accidents and the planned resumption of operation of facilities, which had been shut down after the occurrence of the accidents. After completion of all the measures for resuming operation, including the implementation of measures to prevent further accidents, the Nagoya Works No. 1 coke oven resumed operation at 17:14 on October 19, 2015.
