Relining of No. 4 Coke Oven of Kimitsu Works

Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) has decided to reline the No. 4 coke oven of its Kimitsu Works. Pursuing investment efficiency and cost-minimum operations, we optimize the specifications of the equipment. The relining will help solidifying our competitive strength in the manufacture of iron and steel in the global market.

Outline of the relining project
1. Capacity             900,000 tons per year (92 coke oven chambers)
2. Resumption of operation     December 2016 (plan)
3. Investment            approximately 29 billion yen
