Power Failure at Nagoya Works (Second Report)

At Nagoya Works of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation, a power failure occurred at around 11:50 a.m., Friday, January 17, 2014. In order to deal with the power failure, coke oven gas was burnt off and released.

By the Saturday morning, January 18, power supply to the manufacturing facilities resumed, ending combustion dispersion from the coke plant.

Today, Monday, January 20, a power failure occurred again at part of Nagoya Works at around 9:10 a.m., and smoke was released. By around 11:15 a.m., the smoke dispersion was ended.
We deeply regret any inconvenience and concern that may have been experienced by neighborhood residents and other related parties.
