Start of Commercial Operation of Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel Sheets Mill in Thailand
Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (Representative Director, Chairman & CEO: Shoji Muneoka, “NSSMC”), since the establishment of NIPPON STEEL & SUMIKIN GALVANIZING (THAILAND)CO.,LTD. (“NSGT”) for the manufacture and sale of hot-dip galvanized and galvannealed steel sheets in June 2011, has been pushing the construction and startup of the line, and now, as originally scheduled, has started its commercial operation on October 1.
NSGT, with this state-of-the-art equipment equivalent to that of NSSMC’s latest facility in Japan, is capable of producing high-grade, high-quality hot-dip galvanized and galvannealed steel sheets, including automotive outer panels and high-strength steels. With this line, located adjoining The Siam United Steel (1995) Co., Ltd., a consolidated subsidiary for the manufacture and sale of cold-rolled sheet, an integrated production & quality control setup, from cold rolling down, has been structured.
The Thai market, expected to further grow in the future, is an important market for us. Through NSGT, we intend to continue precisely responding to customer needs for high grade automotive sheet steels for auto makers in Thailand and others.
