TTX/TTXH Application technology to enable various usages

1)Reduction of color-tone from one lot to another

We have provided materials for a number of major properties. In the process, we have amassed the know-how in control technolo-gies to make products in a sufficient quantity to extensively cover a large aera, with the least possible variations in color tones between lot(coils).
In addition, we are also able to provide roofing and exterior-execu-tion companies with information required for lot control.

Base metal(uncoated)for use as a building material may often come in delicately varied color tones between manufacturing lots. Titanium is no exception. In order to prevent impairment of the class of the whole building by such an element, it is a common practice to use coils(panels)in the order of approximation and gradation in color to make color variations inconspicuous.

2)A wealth of application technology

Distortion of the material after rolling is small, and the design performance as a roof is maintained.

  • Sometimes during rolling, pocket waves occur on titani-um. We have developed technology to reduce this phenomenon.
  • We have succeeded in significantly reducing pocket waves by carrying out the following subsequent to vacuum annealing.
    (1)Performing skin pass rolling by using dull rolling.
    (2)Applying waves in advance to the edges of the titanium sheet.

<Maintenance procedure>

  1. Removal of adhesive deposit from the surface protective film

    Rub it away with a sponge or cloth wetted with alcohol, benzene, thinner, or a mixed solution of alcohol and toluene or acetone (in the order of weak to strong agents).
    It is important to wipe off with a fresh clean cloth before these solvents get dry.

  2. Removal of cantamination such as stains from finger prints and/or dirt from the hands

    Such stain can be wiped off with a neutral detergent or soap water in most cases.
    Use organic solvents (alcohol, benzene, etc.) if the above does not work.
    The above-stated precautions should apply here.

  3. Removal of stains made with roofing or concrete

    Wipe it off with 5% solution of hydrochloric acid.

  4. Removal of stains due to the zinc from scaffolding

    Wipe it off with 15% solution of nitric acid.

  5. Removal of stains cause by rain water, dust, etc.

    Such stain can be wiped off with neutral detergent or alkaline detergent in most cases.
    If the above does not work, apply an abrasive cleanser over a soft cloth and rub the stained surface with it lightly and uniformly. This may work.

  6. Removal of stains on anodized color titanium

    Do not try to use hydrochloric acid, nitric acid or cleanser for removal of stains among the above-mentioned maintenance methods.
    When these are used, the coloring layer is so affected that the former state cannot be restored.

Washing with water should be done carefully after the removal of stains according to either of the procedures elaborated above lest the agent used is left unremoved.

<Precautions on care and cleaning>

  1. The cause and state of staining and discoloration of titanium building materials vary depending on each individual case.Cleaning appropriate for each individual situation is required. Conduct “trial cleaning” of part of the surface in advance to check how stains and discoloration can be removed, before setting out on cleaning the whole surface.
    See the test results. Then, clean the whole area according to the method which attained satisfactory results, if any.
  2. It is highly recommended move your hand in parallel along the polishing mark on titanium sheet while applying force evenly when using such cleaning tools as a cloth, sponge, loofah, scrub brush, brush, and fine-texture nylon pad.
    If such a tool is moved in a circular pattern, it is more difficult to remove stains, and gloss lines on the surface may be disturbed or color unevenness may be caused resulting in an ugly surface.
  3. Avoid the use of coarse-grained abrasive sandpaper, steel wool or the like if the stains are heavy. Such a material may not only disturb the gloss line of titanium sheet but may also damage the surface to cause further stains.
  4. Try to clean not only the stained spot but also its surrounding area when a commercially available cleaning agent is used for removal of stains on the titanium.
    Partial cleaning alone may cause color unevenness resulting in an ugly surface.
  5. Never fail to wipe off the cleaning agent on the surface of the titanium, if any, on such an occasion as the cleaning of tile, marble, aluminum, and so on, part of a building.
    Such an agent can cause discoloration if it is left uncleaned.
  6. Consult the manufacturer of the cleaning agent before the cleaning of coloring titanium.
  7. Please check before use the instructions and directions for use and handle accordingly when a cleaning chemical is used.
