Sumitomo Metal Industries, Ltd. has announced planned changes to the Board of Directors and executive officers.

1.Changes to Board of Directors
	To be appointed, pending approval at the General Shareholders Meeting to be held in June:
		Kiyotaka Nogi	Managing Executive Officer, to Director
		Shinya Okuda	Managing Executive Officer, to Director

	To retire on the date of the General Shareholders Meeting to be held in June:
		Yasuo Imai	Director
		Mitsunori Okada	Director

2.Changes in executive officers
	To be appointed on April 1st:
		Machi Nakata	Assistant General Manager of Osaka Steel Works in the Railway, Automotive & Machinery Parts Company
		Hiroki Kawabata	Assistant General Manager of Wakayama Steel Works in the Pipe & Tube Company
		Toshiyuki Kishibe	General Manager of Automotive Steel Sheet Sales Department in the Steel Sheet, Plate & Structural Steel Company
		Toru Kaneko	Deputy General Director of China Steel Sumikin Vietnam Joint Stock Company

	To retire on March 31st:

		Mitsunori Okada	Senior Managing Executive Officer
