2010 Recruitment Plan for General Work Group Employees

Sumitomo Metal Industries, Ltd., together with Sumitomo Metals (Kokura), Ltd. and Sumitomo Metals (Naoetsu), Ltd., has decided to hire approximately 100 "general work group" employees, who are trained and allocated as corporate resources, for fiscal year 2010. (This compares to 88 prospective employees for fiscal 2009.)

Regarding "basic work group" employees, who are engaged in basic jobs in a specified area of the workplace, regular recruitment of approximately 270 employees are expected to be needed for replacement of future retirees. (This compares to 236 prospective employees for fiscal 2009.)
