Reducing Environmental Impact with ProStruct™
ProStruct™ provides excellent steel material performance and application technologies, as well as high material recyclability, which support reducing the environmental impact of buildings and infrastructure structures by making the best use of such features as reducing construction materials, making material manufacture and construction work more efficient, eliminating maintenance workload during usage periods, and making the structure service life longer. ProStruct™ shares some functions with Nippon Steel’s green steel NSCarbolex™ Neutral, and its related technology, NSCarbolex™ Solution, to support reducing the construction industry’s environmental impact.
Nippon Steel promotes environmental performance labeling on our products by obtaining Type III Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) certification, which is compliant with the international standard ISO14025. This certification is one of the requirements for acquiring a certification of environmental assessment systems (such as LEED) for structures, allowing us to respond to customers’ needs.
SuMPO EPD (former name: EcoLeaf)
Based on the SuMPO Environmental Labeling Program by the Sustainable Management Promotion Organization, SuMPO EPD is one of the EPDs that are compliant with ISO14025. The greenhouse gas emissions per unit weight and other data of the corresponding product are displayed.
