Business Expansion of Nippon Steel/WISCO’s Tinplate Joint Venture

Nippon Steel Corporation (President: Shoji Muneoka; hereinafter “NIPPON STEEL”) and Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Corporation (President: Qilin Deng; hereinafter “WISCO”) established, in October 2011, a joint venture for the manufacture and sale of tinplate, WISCO-NIPPON STEEL Tinplate Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “WINSteel”), which is now building a tin mill (one continuous annealing and processing line and one electrolytic tinning line) in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China.

WINSteel, in addition to these facilities, has decided to lease the facilities concurrently being built by WISCO upon their start-up, and to operate them integrally, thus expanding its scale of business.
