Nippon Steel Corporation Announces Temporary Suspension of Inspections by the Japan Water Works Association

In connection with our press release dated September 1, 2010 regarding the suspension of delivery of certain galvanized steel pipes, we have been notified today by the Japan Water Works Association of the temporary suspension of their on-site inspections.

We will take measures to ensure stable manufacturing conditions and to improve our quality assurance system toward the resumption of the delivery of galvanized steel pipes, subsequent to a follow-up inspection by the Japan Water Works Association, and to regain the trust of our customers and prevent the recurrence of this situation. We will continue to respond as appropriate regarding this situation.
