ＢＮＡ　Constructing a New Hot-Dip Galvanizing Line

BNA (Baosteel-NSC/Arcelor Automotive Steel Sheets Co.， Ltd.)， China’s first full-scale supply base of high-grade automotive steel sheet， established in Shanghai as a Sino-foreign equity joint venture among Nippon Steel Corporation (NSC)， Baoshan Iron & Steel Corporation (Baosteel) and ArcelorMittal， has been showing a very smooth growth in production and sales since its start-up in March 2005. Boosted by the tailwind of rapid expansion of the automobile market in China， BNA has been quite successful in moving into the black for a single month in one year， ending with an annual black-ink figure in the second year， and clearing off all accumulated losses in September of this year， just following two and a half years from the start-up.

In this situation， the three parent companies of BNA have agreed to build a new No. 3 hot-dip galvanizing line at a site adjoining the existing facilities. The new line is a state-of-the-art hot-dip galvanizing line modeled on the existing No. 1 hot-dip galvanizing line， with a production capacity of 450，000t/y of high-grade automotive galvanealed steel sheet. The new line is expected to start operations in 2010.
