Report on the Investigation of the Nagoya Works Coke Fire Accident
and Power-Receiving and Distributing Equipment

We sincerely regret the great trouble and inconvenience caused to the local residents and those concerned by the Nagoya Works power failure accidents and the smoke generation after the coke fire accident in 2014.

Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (“NSSMC”) established three committees, including outside experts from academia and industry, and has been investigating the causes of the accidents and identifying measures to prevent recurrence of such accidents.

As the Coke Accident Response Committee and the Investigation Committee for Power-Receiving and Distributing Equipment have completed their review, we hereby report the contents of their work as well as the specific actions taken or to be taken by NSSMC.
