Radiation Detection at Kashima Works
Radiation was detected from part of a rubber sheet used when placing steel products in a predetermined position at Kashima Works on April 4th. As a response, we reported the issue to the Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA) and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and we restricted the access of non-related personnel in the vicinity of the rubber sheet from which radiation was detected.
According to our measurements, a trace amount of radiation was detected; nevertheless, we will respond appropriately in accordance with guidance from relevant organizations, and we are fully committed to investigating the cause and preventing reoccurrence.
