Japan/Fukuoka
Completed in 2004
Nippon Steel’s TranTixxii coloring finished titanium is used for the roof of Kyushu National Museum located in Dazaifu city.
Titanium colored in blue is adopted for the characteristic roof designed by Mr. Kiyonori Kikutake incorporating the image of the Sea of Genkai.
The roof, 180m in length, was covered with two panels, 120m long and 60m long, spliced at one spot, owing to a small coefficient of thermal expansion, a characteristic feature of titanium to form the roof with minimum splicing.
