Mechanism of corrosion resistance on flat section
The corrosion resistance of ZAM™-EX is superior to post-galvanized or post-painted steel sheets.
It contributes to the reduction of life cycle costs through a longer product life.
-
1. In order to increase the corrosion resistance of steel sheets …
-
2. Plating is effective
-
3. The plated layer forms a protective film to maintain corrosion resistance, but …
-
4. If the film is coarse-grained, water and oxygen penetrate the film, accelerating the corrosion.
-
5. Higher corrosion resistance of the plated layer requires the increase in fineness of the protective film.
-
6. ZAM™-EX has excellent corrosion resistance with a fine protective film.
Mechanism of corrosion resistance on bend section
Excellent corrosion resistance is achieved on bend section of ZAM™-EX with a fine zinc-based protective film that
contains Al and Mg leaching from the coating layer.

Corrosion resistance on flat parts
ZAM™-EX has better resistance to red rust than galvanized and hot-dip zinc-5% aluminum alloy coated steel sheets.

Corrosion resistance on cut edge
ZAM™-EX shows better red-rust resistance (durability) on cut edge than any other coated steel sheet.

Change in the appearance of cut edge during outdoor exposure test
The cut edge of ZAM™-EX will be covered with a protective film and change to a subdued color as time passes.
(testing location: seaside industrial area in Sakai)

Corrosion resistance on bend section
ZAM™-EX shows better corrosion (red-rust) resistance even in bend section than any other coated steel sheets.

Change in appearance at bend section during outdoor exposure test
ZAM™-EX shows almost no change in appearance at the bend section.

Corrosion resistance of drawn sections
ZAM™-EX shows better corrosion resistance on drawn parts compared to hot-dip zinc-5% aluminum alloy coated steel sheets.
