Nippon Steel Corporation (“NSC”) announced today that it has launched an
overseas version of its ProStruct™ brand, which provides advanced solutions for the construction
market for buildings and infrastructure structures, and has been operating this brand since October this
year.
ProStruct is a construction solution brand first launched in Japan in 2022 with the aim of providing a
packaged series of “steel materials and solution technology” that combines NSC’s
high-performance steel material products and advanced steel structure technology for the construction
market, where needs are becoming increasingly diverse and complex, along with comprehensive technical
support from materials to design and construction. With its four advantages, (1) Strong and Safe, (2)
Rapid and Reasonable, (3) Useful and Reliable, and (4) Eco-friendly and Sustainable, ProStruct contributes
to the realization of stronger, more functional and optimized structures, shorter construction periods,
cost reductions, and reduced CO2 emissions through improved on-site productivity.
In addition to large-section steel and high-performance steel products with excellent strength and
toughness, NSC has developed construction methods, design and construction technologies, and other
application technologies to maximize the performance of these products, and has contributed to solving
various problems in overseas construction markets.
In recent years, overseas construction markets have also seen a growing need to prepare for increasingly
severe natural disasters and to address issues such as improving productivity in the face of labor
shortages, as in Japan. Add to these current trends such as the promotion of carbon neutrality for
sustainable society and the digitalization of the construction process, and the environment for the
construction market is changing significantly.
As the needs of overseas markets become more diversified and complex, we hope to contribute to the needs
of overseas construction markets by providing easy-to-understand information on the application methods
and benefits of ProStruct, a packaged series of NSC’s steel materials and solution technology,
through the overseas version of ProStruct.
As the first in the ProStruct overseas package series, we have developed a total of three packages: for
structural engineering, “NSHYPER BEAM™ and Semi-rigid Composite Joint,” which achieves
the economical design of beam members based on overseas steel frame processing and construction technology
that does not make extensive use of welding or high-strength bolted joints; for civil engineering,
“Widest Hot rolled Sheet pile and Reusability,” which is expected to improve productivity
through reducing the weight of steel and rapid construction for temporary construction, which accounts for
the majority of the overseas sheet pile market; and “Hat-type sheet pile and Close-proximity
installation,” which can realize sheet pile construction in limited construction space due to narrow
ground, adjacent structures, etc., and can effectively utilize the construction space. In order to make
Hat-type sheet piles more familiar to overseas users, we have added a CAD download function for Hat-type
sheet piles. NSC continues to develop new steel material products and application technologies in response
to the changing market environment in the overseas structural engineering sector, and these will in turn
be added to ProStruct.
Through the development of ProStruct, NSC will continue to contribute to the strengthening and development
of social and industrial infrastructure by providing high quality foundations for various important
facilities and building structures.
