2020/07/13NIPPON STEEL VIETNAM, FECON and RAITO-FECON co-organized seminar “APPLICATION OF THE NEW TECHNOLOGY IN THE CONSTRUCTION FIELD"

On the afternoon of June 30, NIPPON STEEL VIETNAM (NSV), FECON and RAITO-FECON successfully co-organized the seminar "Application of the new technology in the construction field" in Da Nang City.

Main content:

The delegates proposed advanced technologies that can apply in the transport infrastructure field in Da Nang city. NSV presented two topics.
The first is NS ECO – PILE(TM). This is the pile foundation technology which can apply to the constructions such as flyovers, viaducts and intersections.
The second is steel pipe piles, steel pipe sheet piles and steel sheet piles which can apply to the constructions such as quay walls, jetties, revetments and barriers in the river.
These technologies are the best solutions to optimize construction such as construction time, costs, construction area and environment of construction.

Participants:

Representatives of Da Nang People's Committee and districts at all levels, representatives of departments and sectors such as Department of Transport, Department of Construction and Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Representatives of government and districts PMU (project management unit). Representatives of universities and companies in the Da Nang area such as Da Nang University of Technology, Architectural University, Bridge and Road Management Company and representatives of design companies.

NSV presentations are following two topics

1. Construction technology of NS ECO – PILE(TM):

NS ECO – PILE(TM) is a steel pipe pile with helical blade which welded at the pile-tip, leading to ease installation, high bearing capacity, and large pulling resistance.

Applications of NS ECO – PILE(TM): Suitable for foundations of flyovers, viaducts and intersections in the city, which help shorten construction time, save costs, friendly with the environment.

In Vietnam, this foundation has been successfully applied to Hoang Minh Giam flyover in Ha Noi

2. Construction technology of steel pipe piles, steel pipe sheet piles and steel sheet piles

1) Steel pipe piles and steel pipe sheet piles

Steel pipe piles are formed in a spiral shape then welded both inside and outside continuously with the electric arc welding method. The automatic ultrasonic system is applied to check the welding qualities. Steel pipe sheet piles have two junctions welded outside of the steel pipe piles. Steel pipe piles and steel pipe sheet piles are manufactured at Nippon Steel Spiral Pipe Viet Nam in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province with modern production systems and professional engineers.

Applications of steel pipe piles and steel pipe sheet piles:Ports and harbors (Cai Mep-Thi Vai port, South Van Phong port, Lach Huyen port, Nghi Son port, Hon Gai port, etc.). Bridge foundation (Nhat Tan bridge, Lach Huyen bridge, Binh Khanh bridge, Phuoc Khanh bridge). Foundation of irrigation works (Muong Chuoi barrier). Temporary cofferdam (Ho Chinh Minh Metro line No.1). Casing pipes of bored piles (Vam Cong bridge, Cao Lanh bridge, Can Tho bridge). Currently, NSV aims to propose our technologies to the Lien Chieu port project.

Some port projects in Vietnam which have applied steel pipe piles and steel pipe sheet piles.

2) Hat-type sheet piles and Hat-type and H-shape combined high stiffness steel sheet piles (Hat+H)

Hat-type sheet piles are the largest hot-rolled steel sheet piles in the world with 900mm width. Compare to conventional U-type sheet piles, Hat-type sheet piles can reduce the number of steel sheet piles as well as steel volume. Furthermore, no reduction is required in sectional properties to consider the possible lack of shear force transmission at the interlocks, which is true for U-type sheet piles.
Hat + H is combined type sheet piles with Hat-type sheet piles and H-shapes. This has excellent cost-effectiveness because of many types of sections.

Applications of Hat-type sheet piles and Hat + H: Used in many fields such as ports and harbors, river embankments, retaining walls and cofferdam, water cut-off wall for barriers in river.

In Vietnam, this foundation has been successfully applied to water cut-off wall in Tra Khuc barrier in Quang Ngai province.

The seminar finished successfully with more than 150 guests attending and the presence of reporters, journalists, media units such as VTV8, DRT, Da Nang Newspaper.
